How to connect Oculus Quest 2 to a PC

How to connect Oculus Quest 2 to a PC

The Oculus Quest 2 is at the top of our list of the best VR headsets due to its excellent design, ease of use, and an enormous library of games that can be downloaded directly into the headset. However, if you link your Oculus Quest 2 to a PC, you will be able to utilize it to play games on your PC and much more.

There are two methods for connecting your Oculus Quest 2 to a PC, and we’ll show you both.

How to connect Oculus Quest 2 to a PC: System requirements

Before you begin with either option, you must first download the Oculus software to your PC. Go to and click on the “Download Quest 2 PC app” link.

There are separate links below for the Rift S and the Oculus Link; keep in mind that if you have any of those sets, Meta recommends using a PC running Windows 10, as the software is not currently compatible with Windows 11.

Meta recommends a PC with an Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or higher processor and at least 8GB of RAM to utilize Oculus Link. Most Nvidia GPUs from the 970 series and above are compatible, as are AMD GPUs from the 400 series and up. You may find a comprehensive list of the  Oculus Link compatibility requirements.

How to connect your Oculus Quest 2 to a PC via Link

This is the simplest method for connecting an Oculus Quest 2 to a PC, but it means you’ll be tethered to your computer and won’t be able to walk about as freely. A USB-C cable is required for this. If your PC has a USB-C port, you can use a USB-C to USB-C cable; otherwise, a USB-C to USB-A cable is required. Meta sells a 16-foot Oculus Link cable for $79, but any USB-C cord should work; make sure it’s long enough.

How to connect your Oculus Quest 2 to a PC via Air Link

This procedure requires a few extra steps, but it allows you to use your Quest 2 without being linked to your PC.

  1. Ensure that both your Quest 2 and your PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network; Meta recommends connecting to a 5GHz network.
  2. Open the Oculus software on your PC and navigate to Devices, then Add Headset.
  1. Choose Oculus Quest 2 as your connection method, followed by Air Link (Wireless).
  2. Don’t forget to put on your headset. Hover over and pick the clock on the left side of the navigation bar to open Quick Settings.
  3. To view the complete Settings menu, click the gear symbol in the upper right corner of the window that displays.
  4. Check the option labeled “Experimental.”
  5. Locate Air Link and turn it on.
  6. Return to the main Settings window and check the Air Link option. A popup will emerge displaying all PCs on your network that have Air Link enabled. Choose your computer.
  7. A Quest 2 pairing code will display. Remove the headset and verify that it matches the code displayed on your PC’s screen.
  8. Replace the headset and finish the pairing procedure.

You should now be connected. You can then mirror your PC’s display onto the Oculus Quest 2, allowing you to play VR-compatible games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Half-Life: Alyx, and Star Wars: Squadrons.

In this mode, you can also manage your PC via the headset and accompanying controllers; you can launch programs, open windows, and do anything else you could do with your PC’s keyboard and mouse, but typing is a little more difficult.
